Free Agency Update 28/3/2012

Things have quietened down now in free agency after the initial surge so here's the latest deals that have been done that you may want to take note of.

BenJarvis Green-Ellis formerly of the New England patriots has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, this leaves the Patriots with a big whole to fill at running back as there run game is one of the poorest in the league and now they have no back. With a QB like Tom Brady they are a very pass heavy offensive but they still need someone who can grab them a few yards on the ground.

Tracy Porter a corner back who played in New Orleans the last few seasons has joined the Denver Broncos revolution. The broncos continue to add more pieces to there play off puzzle and by adding porter they upgrade the corner back position in an already solid defence. Denver have also signed Jacob Tamme, a TE who is familiar with Peyton Manning as he previously played for the Colts to. this gives Peyton a friendly face in his new dressing room and expect Tamme to be productive next season.

Jeff Saturday, Peyton Manning's long term Centre was believed to be following him to Denver but he has signed with Green Bay and will become Aaron Rodgers new best friend out on the field.

Curtis Lofton one of the premier Line Backers in free agency has signed with the New Orleans Saints. he was previously at Atlanta and many thought he would return there but chose a new challenge with the Saints. He will fit straight in to the first 11 on Defence and makes the linebacker core at New Orleans a force to be noticed.

William Gay a top Corner in the NFL has moved from Pittsburgh to join Arizona. Arizona lost Dominique Rodgers Cromartie last year in a trade to the Eagles and never really filled his spot on the roster. This will help the Cardinals with their pass Defence and expect Gay to start straight away.

Steve Smith a wide receiver who played for the Eagles last year has joined the St Louis Rams. Smith was a bit player for the Eagles and was not expected to re sign their. The Rams have got themselves a receiver to try and help out QB Sam Bradford and veteran in the changing rooms. The Rams are hoping to sign Justin Blackmon in the upcoming draft but will have to hope the Cleveland Browns don't take him with the 4th pick. If Blackmon does become a Ram he will have a mentor in Smith to help hone his game and make the transition from College to the NFL.

This will be last Free Agency update as I am now looking forward to the Draft which takes place on April 26th. At some point in the next week I will put a post up explaining the Draft, then in the run up I will express some of my views on how I think it will go and who to look out for so stay posted.
